Sylvia@fpcgriffin.org
Sylvia has served as the choir director here since 1988 when she and her husband, Gary Hollums moved to Griffin after his retirement from the United States Air Force. As a student at the University of Georgia, Sylvia served in her first choir director's position at Friendship Christian Church in Athens, Georgia. Throughout their many travels with the Air Force, she served as choir director at various churches and base chapels, including Rhein Main Air Base Chapel in Frankfurt, Germany. They have two awesome sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law and three terrific grandchildren. Sylvia has also served as Spalding County Tax Commissioner since 1994. Music plays an integral part in the worship experience at First Presbyterian Church of Griffin. We are blessed to have very talented musicians who enjoy using those talents to the honor and glory of God. All who enjoy singing are invited to join the choir! ![]() Pat Thompson, Church Musician
Pat Thompson began playing for church services at the age of nine in a small Baptist Church in Delta, Alabama, and developed a deep passion for the ‘old hymns’ and gospel style. Later, she received a B.S. in Music Education from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. Throughout life’s changes, her desire to serve God by participating in church music has remained constant. Pat believes music united believers in singing praises as well as provides a medium through which God can reveal his presence to each heart. She has served in FPC’s Music Ministry for two years, and is excited about plans for continued growth. Pat envisions our church as fertile ground for children through adults to participate in this ministry. She is married, has three daughters, one granddaughter, and a mischievous Yorkshire terrier named ‘Papi’.
![]() Betty Whaley, Church Secretary
